Sony Ericsson launched its latest smartphone, Xperia X10, along with smaller Xperia 10 Mini and Xperia 10 Mini Pro models, at Sentosa’s Resorts World in Singapore. The launch, dubbed “evolve.engage.excite,” introduced a number of new generation phones which the Wonder Girls are the new “digital brand ambassadors” of mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson in the Asia-Pacific region.
Hirokazu Ishizuka, corporate VP and head of Asia Pacific Region, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, said the X10 opens up a new chapter for the phone maker: an all-in-one “entertainment” smartphone powered by Android that features Sony Ericsson’s new navigating systems, Timescape and Mediascape. The phones are set to be launched in the Philippines late March.
The X10 is not a light and small handset. It is not for people with small hands but it’s a sleek and very elegant looking phone that comes in the colors black and white. The device has a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz Qualcom Snapdragon processor, 32GB internal memory, 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera with touch focus, LED flash, geo tagging and image/video stabilizer. It is also the second Android handset sporting a resolution of 854×480 pixels called FWVGA, which is short for Full Wide VGA. This means that it’s got pure 16:9 aspect ratio.
What makes it different and way better than any Android powered phone available today is the software application called UX or user experience platform that manages all communication, social networking, photos, videos, and music content in the device.
Maurice Van Tholen Sony Ericsson’s Head of Consumer Portfolio Management said that it could recognize up to five faces in any picture and could automatically connect them with your phonebook and all other related communications with that person.
