In the year 1750, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from England to start a new life in America, where they build a fishing empire in the coastal Maine town that comes to carry their name: Collinsport. Returning to Collinwood Manor, he finds that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin, and the dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets.

Family matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) is the one person Barnabas entrusts with the truth of his identity. But his rather odd and anachronistic behavior immediately raises the suspicions of the live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), who has no idea what kind of problems she’s really digging up.

Also residing in Collinwood Manor are Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloë Grace Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gully McGrath). The longsuffering caretaker of Collinwood is Willie Loomis (Jackie Earle Haley), and new to the Collins’ employ is David’s nanny, Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote), who is, mysteriously, the mirror image of Barnabas’ one true love, Josette.

Burton directed “Dark Shadows” from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith, story by John August and Grahame-Smith, based on the television series created by Dan Curtis. The producers are Oscar® winner Richard D. Zanuck (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Driving Miss Daisy”), Oscar® winner Graham King, (“Rango,” “The Departed”), Johnny Depp, Christi Dembrowski, and David Kennedy. Disney and Marvel Studios successfully marketed filmmaker Joss Whedon’s actioner as “The Super Hero Team Up Of A Lifetime” because it featured iconic Marvel figures Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Nick Fury. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, and Samuel L. Jackson. It’s based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) arrives at a remote S.H.I.E.L.D. facility during an evacuation. The Tesseract, an energy source of unknown potential, has activated and it opens a portal through space from which the exiled Norse god Loki (Tom Hiddleston) steps through. Loki takes the Tesseract and uses his abilities to take control of the minds of several S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel including Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) and Agent Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) to aid him in his getaway. In response to the attack, Fury re-activates the Avengers Initiative. Agent Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johannson) is sent to India to find and recruit Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) while Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) approaches Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and requests that he review Dr. Selvigs research. Fury himself approaches Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) with an assignment to retrieve the Tesseract from Loki. During his exile, Loki encountered the Chitauri, an alien race seeking to conquer the galaxy. In exchange for the Tesseract, the Chitauri agree to help Loki subjugate Earth. Suiting up, Captain America and Iron Man travel to Germany to apprehend Loki, who is recovering iridium needed to stabilise the Tesseracts power, and demanding that the civilians kneel before him. Loki quickly surrenders when the two heroes arrive, and he is escorted back to a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, a high-tech, flying aircraft carrier. However, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki’s half-brother and the Norse God of thunder, arrives and attempts to free Loki so he can try to reason with him on his own, but he gets into a fight with Iron Man and Captain America. Eventually, Loki is taken to the Helicarrier and placed in a cell designed to hold the Hulk. The Avengers argue and deliberate over how to approach Loki and the revelation that S.H.I.E.L.D. plan to harness the Tesseracts power to develop weapons. Fury admits that the events in New Mexico a year before made S.H.I.E.L.D. aware of other races on other worlds, some of which may see Earth as an easy target. The decision was made to produce weapons with the Tesseract as a means of deterrence. As the group argue, Clint Barton and Lokis possessed agents attack the Helicarrier, disabling its engines in flight. As Stark and Rogers attempt to restart the damaged engines, Thor tries to prevent Dr. Banner from turning into the Hulk and destroying the ship from inside. While fighting Barton, Romanoff discovers that a blow to the head powerful enough to knock him unconscious is enough to break Lokis mind control. By the end of the battle, Loki escapes, Thor and Dr. Banner have been ejected from the ship and Agent Coulson is killed. Fury uses Coulsons death to motivate the Avengers into working as a team. Stark and Rogers realize that simply defeating them will not be enough for Loki. He needs to overpower them in a very public way so as to validate himself as ruler of Earth. Using a device built by Dr. Selvig, Loki opens a portal to the Chitauri home world over Manhattan, summoning a Chitauri invasion. The Avengers rally in defense of New York, but quickly come to the conclusion that they will be overwhelmed as wave after wave of Chitauri descend upon Earth. With help from the reformed Barton, Captain America and Thor evacuate civilians while Dr. Banner transforms into the Hulk and goes after Loki, beating him into submission. Romanoff makes her way to the portal, and she hits Dr. Selvig over the head, freeing him of Lokis control. Dr. Selvig reveals that Lokis staff can be used to close the portal. Meanwhile, the directors override Fury and send a jet that fires a nuclear missile at Manhattan to end the invasion. Iron Man intercepts the missile and directs it at the portal and the Chitauri home world before running out of oxygen and plummeting back to Earth, but the Hulk catches him as he falls. Thor escorts Loki and the Tesseract back to Asgard, while Fury notes that the Avengers will go their separate ways until such time as a new world-threatening menace emerges. In a post-credits scene, the Chitauri leader The Other tells his master that it is futile to attack Earth, as fighting The Avengers is like courting death. The Facebook f8 (pronounced “eff eight”) conference is a yearly event held by Facebook and takes place in San Francisco, California. Its mission is to bring together the developers and entrepreneurs who are building the social web. f8 is a Facebook developer conference where developers and entrepreneurs collaborate on the future of personalized and social technologies. The f8 conference starts with a keynote speech by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg followed by various breakout sessions concentrating on specific topics. The f8 conference is known for being the place where Facebook introduces new features and announcements to the public for the first time.

It has been said that the scheduling of f8 has been somewhat erratic due to 2009 was missing entirely and the 2011 event date was announced late. The 2011 date is now set for September 22, 2011. The name f8 derives from the tradition at Facebook of having a big eight hour Hackathon just after the event.

A few ways to pass an exam in your dreams!

- Do a cheerleading stunt.

- When you receive the exam, loudly say to the instructor, “I don’t understand any of this. I’ve been to every lecture this semester! What’s the deal?

- Bring a video game. Play with the volume at max level.

- On the answer sheet find a new, interesting way to refuse to answer every question. For example, write “I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it conflicts with my religious beliefs”. Use your imagination.

- Bring a pet or any small animal to safely play with.

- Run into the exam room looking about frantically. Breathe a sigh of relief. Go to the instructor and say “They’ve found me, I have to leave the country” and run off.

- Do the exam with crayons, paint, or fluorescent markers.

- Pretend to fall asleep until the last 15 minutes. Wake up, say “oh gee, better get cracking,” and scribble furiously. Turn it in a few minutes early or panic like it’s the end of the world, like it’s 2012!

- Get a copy of the exam, run out screaming “I’ve got the secret documents!”

- Talk the entire way through the exam. Read the questions aloud and debate your answers with yourself out loud. If asked to stop, yell out sarcastically, “I’m so sure you can hear me thinking.”
- Complete the entire exam in another language you know. For maths or science exams, try using Roman numerals.

- Throw a paper ball at the instructor when she or he is not looking. Blame it on the person nearest to you.

- As soon as the instructor hands you the exam, eat the corners.

- Every five minutes, stand up, collect all your things, move to another seat, and continue with the exam.

- Turn in the exam approximately 20 minutes in. As you walk out, start commenting on how easy it was.

- Do the entire exam as if it was multiple choice and true/false. If it is a multiple choice exam, spell out interesting things.

- Get the exam. Twenty minutes into it, throw your papers down violently, swear loudly and walk out triumphantly.

- At some point during the exam, start crying for mommy.

- Every now and then, clap twice rapidly. If the instructor asks why, tell him or her in a very derogatory tone, “the light bulb that goes on above my head when I get an idea is hooked up to a clapper.”

- Comment on how sexy the instructor is looking that day.

- about 30 minutes on the exam, put on a white mask and start singing “the phantom of the opera” song.

- Bring a bubble maker toy.

- From the moment the exam begins, hum the theme to ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’. Ignore the instructor’s requests for you to stop. When they finally get you to leave one way or another, begin whistling the theme to ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

- Start a brawl in the middle of the exam.

- If the exam is maths or science related, make up the longest essay about mathematics that you could possibly think of. If it is a written exam, write numbers, formulas, or equations as if you are a genius scientist.

- Bring an annoying/loud battery operated massager give yourself a massage and make some annoying noises the entire way through the exam. Insist that this is needed, because you have bad circulation.

- Bring cheat sheets from another subject (like biology for a calculus exam) and staple them to the exam, with the comment “Please use the attached notes for references as you see fit.”

- After you get the exam, call the instructor over, point to any question, ask him or her to answer it for you.

- Bring condoms, blow them up, and start throwing them around like they do before concerts start.

- Bring some picture frame of an ugly idol. Put it right next to you. Pray to it often. Consider a small sacrifice.

- Complete the exam with everything you write being backwards at a 90 degree angle.
